About Us
The goals of the Haliburton Community Housing Corporation Board of Directors are to provide permanent, affordable, quality accommodation to individuals in a community which encourages a partnership role for the residents and to provide housing for special needs individuals, thereby providing an opportunity for independent living in an integrated setting.
Funding for both operating and rent subsidies is provided by ratepayers of Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes through the Service Manager (City of Kawartha Lakes).
Our History
Haliburton Community Housing Corporation was incorporated on June 6, 1986 as a private, non-profit corporation. The Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine community-minded voluneers, including two tenant members.
- Parklane Apartments, a 50 unit building opened in 1987
- Echo Hills Legion Apartments, a 45 unit building opened in 1992
Each three-storey building has one and two bedroom apartments, including 2 units for the physically challenged. The buildings each have an elevator, common lounge and common laundry facilities.
Tenants moving into Parklane or Echo Hills Apartments must obtain tenant insurance, including liability insurance, in advance of the move-in date and must provide proof of insurance on an annual basis.
Each building has a one-pet policy. All pets must have up-to-date vaccinations. A copy of our pet policy is here.
